Make Wall Art from Black and White Photos

Our master bedroom needed a huge makeover. The paint was old, the curtains were dusty and the artwork was outdated. I didn't want to spend a fortune re-doing everything so I looked for inexpensive solutions to give the room a whole new look without breaking the bank.

Obviously, new paint was in order so we picked out a color called "Happy Trails" by Pittsburgh Paint which is a really warm tan like the color of a great cup of coffee with a lot of cream in it.

Next, I knew those old curtains had to be changed out, so I found an inexpensive curtain rod and bought two different scarves and draped those over the rod. Done.

I needed to bring in some color, so I made a couple of arrangements out of silk and dried flowers. A nice pop against the warm tan of the walls.

Now, what to do about the wall art? I wanted to have family photos in the room but I didn't want a bunch of mismatched frames sitting around. I was going for a cleaner look.

We recently became empty nesters so I wanted to showcase the transition my family has undergone over the past 22 years. An idea was born to make a photo collage for the wall with black and white photos and matching frames.

How I made it

Pick the photos. I chose one of my family when the two kids were very young and one of my family now. Then I found my favorite picture of just the kids when they were little and another one of them now.

Fix the photos. After selecting the four photos, some had to be scanned into my computer while the more recent ones were taken with my digital camera and were already in my computer. I have Adobe Photoshop which I used to fix the photos. They were all different sizes and colors so the first thing I had to do was make them all uniform.

I made them all 5 x 7's by using the function "Image-Size" and then the function "Image-Mode-Grayscale" to discard color. I ended up with four, 5 x 7, black and white photos. This is an important step, in my opinion, because you want them all to match.

Buy the frames. In order to accomplish the uniform look, I also selected four identical frames.

Hang them. Once the four black and white photos were in the frames, I had to decide how I wanted to hang them. The orientation of the photos (portrait or landscape) will help you decide the configuration (across in a straight line, down in a straight line, in a perfect square...).

Two of my photos were landscape and 2 were portrait so I decided to put them in a square with an irregular edge to create visual interest. We hung up the photo collage yesterday and my husband helped to ensure that the frames were all perfectly spaced.

I am quite proud of the end result. Not only do we have inexpensive wall art, but we have something to look at that is so very meaningful and will be cherished for years to come.

1. How can I join FM GROUP?

First step: Sign the contract
You sign the contract with your sponsor, the person who introduced you to FM GROUP. You need to fill out the form in capital letters with all your personal details so we can put your all the correct information on our database. You can send the form by fax, post, or by email. You can also register ONLINE by filling in the online registration form. When you register online you do still need to complete a offline form and post in to us (please make it clear that you have already completed the online registration). We are unable to pay commission to you until we have your signed registration form. People who don’t know anyone in FM GROUP can contact our head office and we will contact our leaders closest to you and ask them to contact you directly.

Second Step: Buy the starter kit. You can do it in two ways.
When you sign the contract your sponsor may have a starter kit you can purchase. If your sponsor does not have a spare starter kit you can purchase a starter kit directly from the company when you send your registration form in, remember to include delivery cost.

2. What does the starter kit include?
Starter kit includes: 100 samples of fragrances from number 1 to 140, a registration form for a new distributor, one marketing plan booklet, product catalogue, one order form, price list, all current leaflets and a pen. Remember to look at our product catalogue. Our starter kit contains 100 samples. It does not include the exclusive fragrances samples (no’s 141 – 160). We also have other fragranced products like: shower gels, body lotions, kids’ perfumes. All these products you can find in our catalogue.

3. How Do I Get Free Delivery?
You won’t pay the shipping costs if you order more than 20 bottles of regular perfumes or products of 560 points. If you order less then:
0-10 bottles or less then 280 points it is £5 for delivery
11-20 bottles or less then 560 points it is £3 for delivery

4. I want my order delivered to Ireland. What are the shipping costs?
If you want to your order to be delivered to Republic of Ireland and not pay the shipping costs you need to order 40 bottles of perfumes or products of 1120 points. If you order less then the shipping costs are:
0-10 bottles or products of less then 280 points - €37
11-20 bottles or products of less then 560 points - €28
20-30 bottles or products of less then 840 points - €15
30-40 bottles or products of less then 1120 points - €7

We send the parcel by CITY LINK. Delivery time to Ireland is 3-4 working days.
If you want to order the starter kit only we can send the parcel by post (delivery time is 5-7 working days) We don’t take responsibility for any postal delays. The shipping costs depend on the weight of the parcel. To get one starter kit you need to pay €12 for shipping.
If you want a starter kit delivered by CITY LINK you need to pay full shipping costs of €37

5. Can I add to an order I have already placed?
Yes, but only up to 15 after you placed the original order. It is not possible to do it any later as the order is already being processed and prepared to be sent to you. 6. How can I get my password?
Once we have registered you in our database you need to wait 2 days before you contact us at head office to get your password. After we verify your personal details we are able to give you your password.

7. Do I have to log in to place the order?
You don’t have to log in to place the order. You can order products after 15 minutes of your registration. You can order on the phone or by email or by fax. If you order and pay before 1pm you will have your products the next working day. You need to pay advance. You can pay by card (credit debit card except VISA ELECTRON), by PAYPAL (after you place the order we will send you money request to your e mail address), by money transfer on our bank account. Please note that if you are paying money into our bank you have to allow time for it to reach our bank account, depending on your bank this can be 3 to 5 working days.

If you want you can use our quick order form online to place your order once you have logged in using your id number and password. 8. How can I find out about the promotions if I don’t have access to internet?
Most of people who order over the phone receive the leaflets in their parcels. You can also contact your sponsor to find out about NEWS. The easiest way to inform you about current promotions and news is online. You can use internet in internet cafes, if you do not have access at home.

We don’t plan to open new offices in UK. There will be only one head office in London. Our service is very good and we can send parcels within UK in 24 hours so people who can’t come to our distributor centre can order products over the phone, online or by fax.

12. What is the procedure of ordering the products?
Orders received by internet, fax or on the phone:
a) If you order your products before 1pm (date of the email being received) and if you pay for your products in advance before 1pm you will have your parcel next working day (except Saturday) If you want to have your products on Saturday you need to pay extra £8.
b) If we receive your order after 1pm we will send your order next working day so you will have your products in two working days.

If you have paid for your order and the parcel has been sent but you haven’t received it within 3 working days please contact our head office (tel. 0208 998 3898)

You have to remember that our parcels are delivered by CITY LINK courier company, they need to have parcels signed so someone has to be at home to sign for the parcel. If no one can be at home please provide us with a different address (your neighbours, your work address)

13. What are the payment methods?
You can pay by card over the phone. Card accepted: VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, Solo
We don’t accept VISA Electron

You can pay by PAYPAL. You need to tell us your email address and we will send you the money request to your email address. After we receive payment we will send your parcel. You can pay CASH into our bank account. After you place the order we will tell you how much you have to pay. If you pay cash before 1pm you will have your products next working day after we receive the payment, please note depending on the bank you make the payment at this may take a couple of days. Please use Barclays if you can. You can transfer money online from your bank account. Remember that transfer is going to be to our bank account within 3-4 working days. Once we receive the payment we will send you the parcel.

14. What to do if the product is damaged?
If you notice that a product is damaged by us or the courier, please send it to us by Royal Mail standard parcel and as soon as we receive it we will send you a replacement. We will refund your postage cost in samples or catalogues. Please call us to inform us about your damage product. Please provide us your distributors details and description of what happened to your products / parcel.

If you would like to exchange the numbers of perfumes you have ordered we can do this for you, provided the box is sealed and bottle unopened. Please send us the unopened perfumes and your details and the numbers you wish to exchange them for. We will send you the new numbers. Remember that you will have to pay the shipping costs.

15. What to do if my client is not satisfied with the fragrance?
You need to remember that you have samples you need to show to your client. They choose the fragrance they wish to buy by trying the sample first. All our fragrances are the same in the sample and in the bottle. We won’t refund opened bottles of perfumes.

16. Do I have to pay tax on my commission?
Every distributor is responsible for their own tax, national insurance etc on their earnings. You can read more about this on our website in distributors’ zone.

17. How often is the catalogue changed?
We change our catalogue and usually 20 fragrances twice a year. The details are always on our website.
